Celebrities tell us why!

Seven celebrities (well, 6 Dutch and 1 international) clearly state what they find so attractive about organic products:

Pierre Wind: real taste
Pierre Wind is chef and ambassador of good taste. He is a driving force behind teaching taste, and much more: "Organic is really fantastic, there are so many good things in it. Eating an organic cucumber is so much different from eating a non-organic one, what you feel in your mouth doesn't compare. Organically cooking greatly inspires me. I grew up in the world of stars, and was able to enjoy beautiful products, which doesn't mean having truffles at every meal! Having a really ripe mango or tomato will literally send me into a coma of joy for hours. But finding really tasty products requires a thoroughly searching."

Michelle Obama: for the health of your child
Michelle Obama, the wife of the U.S. President, has her own organic garden on the lawn of the White House. It's a secret to the public that the Obama family eats organic. She says: "Last year, my nine-year old daughter was really starting to get overweight. So we had a look inside our cupboards." She realized that as a family, they hardly ate any fresh food. "We would have a so-called fruit drink, and believed it was juice. And when you read the label, you realize that it's full of corn syrup. So now, we have other things in the house, such as a bowl of fresh fruits."

Katja Schuurman and Ruud de Wild: for the well-being of animals
Katja Schuurman sometimes eats meat, but doesn't buy it herself. "The most important for me is that animals have had a humane life. I am not a big advocate of organic meat." Ruud de Wild: "Eat meat, ok, but do make sure the animals have been properly treated. This also applies to milk and eggs, by the way. Organic food may cost a couple of cents more, but for an animal, this means a world of difference." (source: www.eetgeendierenleed.nl)

Gordon: it was so delightful on the organic farm
Singer Gordon experienced, in the TV show "Gillend naar huis" ("screaming home"), how delightful the organic countryside life can be. He went to an organic farm in Ibiza, and picked his own food together with two Dutch girls. He would enjoy a corn cob directly from the garden: "It really tastes as if there was butter and sugar on it." He started off with a healthy skepticism, but in the end, gave the highest score to be ever given in the show so far: 5 stars. "Wonderful. You find complete peace of mind. Healthy eating. Good environment. Fresh air. I recommend it to anyone."

Professor Arnold Heertje: because it's the real economy
"I don't think like traditional economists, from a financial viewpoint. It is not about finances, but about the well-being of people, about gratification. This gratification can partly be found in money, but for the most part, it cannot. Many things are by definition impossible to measure. This is the lesson the economic crisis is teaching us. For a long time, quantity was central. The products of nature, of organic foods, rise above one-dimensional concepts such as expensive or cheap."

Farmer Joris: because it's worth the money
Farmer Joris Kollewijn was the youngest organic farmer in the very first edition of "Boer zoekt Vrouw" ("Farmer looking for a Woman"). According to many, the "tasty one". He explains why his organic-dynamic vegetables are more expensive. "I don't spray on weeds, we take them out manually. This means more work and higher costs. We also opt for robust breeds. They grow more slowly and produce less. But they also make sure we suffer less from disease and fungi." In short: it requires more work and attention. You can also watch this film.
